Orthodontic treatment can be pleasant, but it doesn’t always suit our needs. Patients in the depths of Invisalign treatment chose it over braces for a number of reasons, but the most common is its convenience. Conveniently comfortable, conveniently invisible, and conveniently light of restrictions, Invisalign makes orthodontic treatment something that won’t disrupt our lives. But Dr. Kim Okamura hopes to take that one step further by advising patients on how to complete Invisalign as quickly as possible. Even if you don’t love your time in aligners, you will adore the stunning results. These tips will help you arrive at that happy post-orthodontics period with haste.

Speedy Invisalign Treatment

Before breaking out our tips, we do want to remind you that “fast” treatment is relative, and your treatment time is dependent upon your bite. The complexity of your case will determine how many months you will spend in Invisalign; these tips simply help those months fly by and ensure treatment is complete at the estimated date.

  • Wear your aligners as much as possible. Different cases mandate different lengths of aligner wear per day, but the general consensus is that the maximum amount of aligner wear is the best amount! Replace your aligners quickly after eating and cleaning your teeth, and make them a priority. When starting treatment, create reminders for yourself on your phone or throughout your kitchen/bathroom to get your aligners back on your teeth after meals.
  • Maintain your regular Invisalign appointments. Appointments with your dentist allow Dr. Okamura to determine whether your teeth are moving properly, and to provide you with new trays. Keep these appointments to move treatment along smoothly.
  • Follow instructions exactly and switch trays when advised. Although new trays are uncomfortable for a few days, they only hurt because they are beginning to move your teeth with refreshed force. Switch out new trays as instructed to keep your teeth on the right path.
  • Wear your retainer after treatment. While this is not technically part of your advise for completely treatment quickly, it is a part of maintaining your straightening results. Should you neglect your retainer, your teeth could return to their past positions! You definitely don’t want that, and we don’t want that either.
