Kim Okamura, DDS
Dr. Okamura’s foray into dentistry is an interesting one, to say the least. A 33-year veteran of the dental industry, Dr. Okamura originally began her career as a chair side assistant. She then returned to school with the intention of becoming a hygienist. After two professors suggested she try dental school, Dr. Okamura decided to enroll. Nine years later she wears a white coat to work, has three initials after her name and hasn’t looked back since! It is this well-rounded experience that makes Dr. Okamura so adept at her craft.
Dr. Okamura was born and raised in Seattle, has been married for 24 years, and is the proud mother of two wonderful children. She has a strong interest in art and loves to build and paint miniature models. Her mechanical mind loves to take things apart and put them back together, while her abstract mind craves to learn about people and their interactions with others.
She is a member of the American Academy of Facial Esthetics, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the Washington State Dental Association, the Seattle King County Dental Society, the Advanced Porcelain Bonded Restoration Study Club and is a graduate of the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies and the Pacific Implant Institute. She has earned fellowship status with the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. Dr. Okamura has also been a member of the Puget Sound Study Club for Advanced Cosmetic Dentistry and the Summit Study Club. In the few remaining day light hours, Dr. Okamura actively participates in ongoing continuing education courses with Invisalign. Luckily, Dr. Okamura’s reputation as a constant ball of energy is true.
“It’s so exciting to be a part of such amazing transformations. I love the energy you feel when a client sees their new smile for the first time, knowing you have helped them achieve a dream they have always wanted.”
Optimal health and enjoyment of life is key. Without a healthy oral condition, we would not be able to properly digest and nourish our bodies. From an esthetic perspective, one’s smile plays such a vital role as to how other’s perceive you. It’s about feeling your best, both on the inside and the outside.
It’s amazing when a patient sees their smile for the first time. I LOVE what I do.
I’ve been in the dental field for thirteen years, the last nine have been with Dr. Okamura . I have traveled with Dr. Okamura to many continuing education courses throughout the U.S. Our patients often comment on how well we work together as a team. In fact, I think there is some serious telepathy going on between us.
Since graduating from Lake Washington Vo-Tech, the field of dentistry has changed dramatically, It’s fascinating to be a part of a team that believes in advancements and how it will benefit our patients.
Outside of dentistry, my life is filled with a lot of laughter. Jesse, my husband of 13 years and I delight in seeing our daughters, Avalon and Eloise learn and appreciate the little things in life. “Life is too short not to enjoy it to it’s fullest!”
“I do this because I am going to be in line just in front of Dr. Okamura at those pearly gates!”
Lesley is a 19-year industry veteran. She was added to Dr. Okamura’s team to fill a number of roles including marketing, patient services, valet, hostess, barkeep, counselor and comedian.
Lesley’s personality is as big and endearing as her warm smile. Patients have come to love her energy and personal touch, which is good because Lesley is planning to be a permanent fixture to Dr. Okamura’s team.
When not working with patients or adding her infectious energy to the office, Lesley spends her time assisting with a variety of activities within her church.
“While working with the team at Dr. Okamura’s office, we are constantly striving to learn and grow in our profession.”
I was born and raised on the Big Island of Hawaii and moved to Seattle in 2000. I am a graduate of the University of Washington with a BA in Cell and Molecular Biology and also graduated from Lake Washington Institute of Technology with an associate degree in Dental Hygiene. I always knew I wanted to do something in the healthcare field where I could help others.
From a young age, I have been interested in dental hygiene since I LOVED going to the dentist and having my teeth cleaned!!!
I joined the high energy team of Dr. Okamura’s in 2016 and have enjoyed being in the hygiene field for the last ten years. Dr. Okamura has been a great mentor encouraging me to expand my knowledge and improve my skill set with advanced techniques in laser therapy.
I have received my standard proficiency certification in laser therapy. This provides our patients with the highest in technological care in bacteria reduction and successful healing for periodontal disease. I have also gained additional knowledge regarding the Invisalign clear teeth straightening system and therapeutic Botox—a sample of the enhanced services Dr. Okamura offers in her practice.
Outside of the dental field I love spending time with my husband and young son. We love eating good food, biking around Lake Washington and taking our dog to the dog park.
